DIY Christmas essential oil blends

DIY christmas essential oil recipes

I LOVE this time of year!!!  I love everything about it, especially listening to Christmas music and diffusing some of my favorite essential oils to bring on a bit of holiday cheer.  Here are some of my favorite essential oil blend recipes for your diffuser.  If you don’t have a diffuser for your essential oils, you can always use a wax melting pot- just be sure to add a bit of coconut oil along with whatever essential oils you use.  This will make the oils less likely to burn in your pot.  You could also make your own homemade wax melts!  They’re super easy and the wax last forever in your melting pot so when the scent of the essential oils wear off you can easily add more.

DIY: Homemade wax melts with essential oils

DIY-homemade-wax-melts-with-essential-oilsWhen I first started using essential oils (many) years ago, it was mostly due to my severe allergies to chemicals.  It was a sad day (or so I thought) when I couldn’t go into a bath and body shop without coming out with a severe headache.  It was then that I said goodbye to chemical-filled commercial products and started making my own alternatives.

Most commercial scented wax melts contain parrafin and other chemicals which are harmful when heated.  By replacing these toxic ingredients with natural ones like beeswax and coconut oil, you’ll not only save money, but improve your health too!

I hope you have as much fun with this recipe as I do!

Favorite fall essential oil recipes for your diffuser

fall essential oil blends for diffuser

I have to admit the older I get, the more I like fall.  Maybe it’s because I’m getting older?  I have to admit that age has a tendency to urge you to slow down and  focus on what’s really important.  In Chinese medicine, Autumn marks the beginning of a cycle of personal turning within.  When our time is more directed toward our work, our families, and projects at home- to slow down and prepare ourselves for winter.  This is the perfect time to fill the air with warming scents that remind us of the season.

Here are some of my favorite fall essential oil blend recipes to for your diffuser, or you can use them in a wax melting pot.

Home remedies for the cold and flu

I wish I could say that we made it through the winter without a cough or sniffle, but let’s be real here, we’re human.  Although we all caught the ugly flu bug in my family, it was of pretty short duration and quick turn around, thanks to the things I’ve learned and the tools I use to help in this process.  So with that, I will share with you my favorite things to have on hand when the flu bug bites.

My love affair with essential oils

I absolutely LOVE oils.  Can I say that again?  Really, I love oils.  It’s actually kind of funny because before I started learning about oils I thought they were a little weird- the oils and the people that used them.  But now I admit it, I’m weird and I love it!

I use them all the time!  In fact, there’s a running joke in my family that whenever an issue comes up, I’ll use an oil for it.  You’ve got a cold?  Here’s some Oregano.  You have a sore neck?  Use some Peppermint.  You chopped your finger off?  Yarrow will fix that right up!  Alright… I admit it… oils won’t grow your finger back.  But pretty close.
